Community Advocacy Update: Kayak Kiosk Removed from Lake Como Park

At Keep Lake Como Beautiful (KLCB), we are committed to ensuring the voices of Lake Como residents are heard and prioritized in decisions affecting our neighborhood. We are pleased to share an important update regarding the unattended kayak rental kiosk installed at Lake Como Park—a concern that many of you voiced through our recent survey.


After numerous discussions with city officials and the vendor, Outdoor Vending Solutions has decided to terminate their contract for the Lake Como location. This outcome reflects the power of community advocacy and highlights the importance of prioritizing public safety and transparency.

Why This Matters

The installation of the kiosk raised significant concerns about safety, including the lack of life jackets, lifeguards, and proper kayak entry points. It also underscored the need for improved communication and consultation between the City of Fort Worth and Lake Como residents.


What’s Next?

While the kiosk removal is a victory for community advocacy, it also serves as a reminder of the ongoing need for:

  • Resident Involvement: No decisions about Lake Como should be made without consulting the people who live here.

  • Safety Prioritization: KLCB will continue to work with the city to ensure that any future projects prioritize public safety.

  • Collaborative Solutions: KLCB remains dedicated to fostering partnerships with city officials and organizations to create sustainable, equitable improvements in our community.
