Goodman Park Revival: A Community in Action

Join us in creating a greener, safer, and more vibrant space for everyone.

A Legacy Rooted in Community

Goodman Park, located at 5413 Goodman Ave in Fort Worth, TX, was a cornerstone of the Lake Como neighborhood since its dedication in 1967. This 0.14-acre green space was a generous gift from Ruth Carter Johnson and J. Lee Johnson III, who envisioned it as a non-discriminatory recreational area for community enrichment. Originally named Como Mini Park, it became a beacon of hope for an underserved neighborhood, officially renamed Goodman Park in 1970.

However, by the late 1980s, Goodman Park faced challenges reflecting the broader social decline in the area. Residents, grappling with concerns about illicit activities and safety, requested the park’s closure and removal of its amenities. What once symbolized community pride and connection was left dormant, a stark reminder of unmet potential.
